Why Phuket? Why Kata Beach?

Phuket is world renowned as one of the top ten island destinations in the world.

I spent several years looking around Thailand, before deciding to build my villas on Phuket Island. For me, the best area of Thailand.

I then spent another year looking around Phuket for land suitable to build my villas. I decided to focus on the Kata Beach area because I believe it is the best area in Phuket in which to spend a holiday vacation.

The reasons?

Firstly the West Coast beaches on Phuket are far superior to the East Coast beaches . Much better for surfing, swimming and snorkelling. Kata Beach in particular is also protected by a small island called KO PU that protects the beach from too strong surf in the summer season. The sand is also gently sloping so that you do not get dangerous "dumping " surf in windy conditions. The beach is also very natural , with a few restaurants and bars concentrated at the southern end, but the rest of the beach is untouched.

Secondly, the South of Phuket island has a much more friendly feel than the North of the Island. There are many small local shops and businesses which makes the area more interesting and less expensive.

Nai Harn Beach is also beautiful, but it is right at the south of the island, and a long way to travel to get to other attractions like island excursions, golf, the main town of Phuket and Central Festival Shopping Centre. So I decided on Kata Beach.

It was 2003 that I eventually found the gently sloping woodland overlooking Kata Beach on which to build my two villas. If I wanted to design two villas that were ideal for holidays, I knew it was important to have spectacular views of the Ocean and Sunsets from the swimming pools and sunbathing areas . Hence the "upside down" design of my villas with the swimming pools and sun bathing areas on the upper floors and the bedrooms kept cool and shaded below.

The villas were finally completed in 2005/6 and since then have been spectacularly successful in attracting holiday makers from all over the world. Just look at our guest reviews.

I was delighted when the BIG BUDDHA started to rise up from the hill top just behind my villas . This is a most beautiful (and the biggest) Buddha in Thailand and has a very benign and calming influence on the area. Several past guests in Villa Malee have commented that they feel an extraordinary sense of peace and calm because of the proximity of the Big Buddha.

My villas are also close to Chalong Harbour for day trips to other islands, international shopping at Central Festival, Phuket City, Hannuman Zipline adventure, Surf House Kata Beach, golf courses and elephant sanctuaries.

The final essential ingredient for a great holiday is having great (discreet) staff to look after you. Ever since our first guests arrived our manageress and concierge, Khun Noi has worked tirelessly to provide and train great staff for our villas. I (and all our past guests) are grateful to her for her total dedication to ensure that all our guests have a wonderful time. Thank you Khun Noi from all of us. We hope to see you soon !
