Kata Bay is blessed with a huge sandy beach, with calm clear water from November through to April . At either end of Kata Beach there are rocky headlands around which there is superb snorkeling with a host of multi coloured fishes to discover even for beginners (though you must observe the warning flags for safe bathing at all times and avoid the areas of rip tides). There are several other small beaches in the South West of Phuket with rocky headlands and great snorkeling. One to recommend is Ya Nui , a small sandy beach between Nai Harn and Laem Promthep, where there are also beach chairs for hire and one informal restaurant with friendly staff - a good place to stop in for a cool drink. Another is Ao Sane ,which is small beach reached via a dirt road that runs through the car park of Le Royal Meridien Phuket Yacht Club in Nai Harn. This also called "Jungle Beach". It is usually quiet and peaceful here, with good coral outcroppings off its mostly rocky shore.
